How To Screen Share Your Mobile Devices

Question: How do I get my iPhone, iPad, Android or Smartphone etc. to project or mirror on my computer screen so I can share it with others via live projection or during a webinar? Answer: It’s really super easy but not what you’ll find when searching the web!

There are quite a few different articles and how-to’s regarding apps, software’s and programs etc that can mirror your device on a computer or projection screen but none as easy as what I’m about to show you. Follow these few simple steps and you’ll be amazed.

Mobile Device Sharing

How to mirror and share your mobile device on a desktop or laptop computer.

1. Plug your device into the laptop/desktop computer using the provided USB cable
2. Launch your QuickTime Player (Download here if Needed for Windows or Apple)
3. Under the QuickTime “FILE” menu, select “New Movie Recording
4. Use the pulldown menu next to the record activation button, choose your device.

QuickTime Video Options5. Your device will now appear on the monitor or computer screen.

Now by simply using the device as you would normally, everything you do will be shared on your computer desktop or laptop screen. Now you can share your desktop screen and mobile devices on Webex events, GoToWebinar trainings, Google hangouts, Join.me and even in the real estate cloud-based campus at RETechCampus.com.

You can use this process on any sites or platforms that allow screen sharing.

This is by far the easiest and most efficient and inexpensive (free) way I have encountered for sharing your device and the apps you use on a desktop or laptop computer. This is a great way to share when there are just too many people to gather around your small device. It’s a great way for trainers, developers and teachers etc. to teach and share.

The Real Estate Guide to Keywords

It’s one thing to think you know what others are searching for on the web, but it’s another thing to KNOW what they’re searching for!? Creating content that shows up on page one of the Google search results pages (SERPS) is usually the main focus and goal.

Understanding all the components of Search Engine Optimization (SEO) can be overwhelming and really confusing for most people, especially if you’re busy just trying to run a business and help people buy and sell homes? This explains why so many procrastinate.

What the heck is SEO, SERPS, long tails, short tails etc. anyways? Geez!?!

So if you can’t find a person to take on the role of “SEO KING/QUEEN” and “Keyword Manager” for your company or small business, then looking for a shortcut to this knowledge and the “how-to” is the next best thing right?

Here’s a slide deck the gives you just enough content to understand how it all works, but also provides some concentrated information and details that will help you down the “Keyword” & “Best Phrases” road to success.

While great content is, and always should be the main focus, having the right keywords and phrases do go hand in hand with helping to be found and get discovered in the search engines.
Custom Youtube Video Embedding

How To Embed a Custom Youtube Player

Here are (3) three really great custom Youtube video player embeds you can use for adding variety to your site or self-hosted blog.

I’ve been trying to figure out how to embed a Youtube video and player without having relevant videos popup at the end.  Looking for a way to also remove the Youtube logo from showing up in the bottom corner of the player which allows viewers to go back and watch the video on the Youtube site.

Up until now I was unsuccessful, but as they say… if at first you don’t succeed, try try again.

I finally figured it out and as you can see by the video above, there is NO link back to Youtube and there are NO related videos that pop up when this one is finished.

If you’re looking for a way to do this with the videos and player on your site or blog, here’s a magical resource that will reveal how I was able to accomplish this and how you can do the same using simple HTML and an iFrame embed code. https://developers.google.com/youtube/player_parameters#controls

Here’s another cool Youtube embed secret from Cooliris that allows multiple videos within a single player.
Use your mouse wheel to scroll in and out, or use slider at bottom of player to navigate through videos.

My final Youtube embed secret is selecting a “Playlist” from a Channel and embedding the entire playlist of videos into a single player and then adding it to your website pages or blog posts.

Best Home Security Tips

There once was a time when you could leave your door open and unlocked all night long.burglar

I remember when people would leave their car windows down and doors unlocked in the driveway for days at a time or at least until it rained.

The world has changed and if you want your home to be protected and more importantly, safe… then here’s some of the best home security tips you’ll find available to help you protect your investments, your family and your neighbors and the community where you live and play.

  • Change all the locks and tumblers when you move into a new house
  • Place security provider yard signs in highly visible areas
  • Have post office hold mail/news papers when leaving for extended periods
  • Test security system with provider before leaving on vacation
  • Hide valuables like jewelry, money etc. in the walls, use space between wall studs
to install fake outlets, wall safe’s, behind picture safes etc.
  • Stash valuables inside cereal boxes and fake soup cans in the kitchen,
Burglars rarely if ever rob or look for goods in the kitchen.
  • Occasionally check windows to insure they are locked
  • Store ladders inside, not on side of the house or backyard
  • Hide external wiring, Burglars look to cut off electricity, alarm systems, phones, etc.
  • If you lose your keys, change the locks immediately
  • Don’t leave keys outside of home in hide a key boxes
  • Spare key solution: wrap the key in foil and bury it where you can find it if needed
  • Take pictures (and keep updated records) of all valuables
  • Don’t let newspapers pile up on the porch when you’re on vacation
  • Don’t leave notes for service people or family members on the door
  • Consider your landscaping plan in light of your protection needs
  • Turn water main off and put lights on timers when leaving for extended periods
  • If you have an alarm, activate it even when you’re home
  • Protect your trash. Shred financial docs and don’t place empty boxes from expensive items
in the garbage until the night before garbage day. Robbers do sift through your trash
  • Do not update Facebook profile while on vacation
  • If someone comes to your door asking to use the phone to call a mechanic or the police,
keep the door locked and make the call for them yourself
  • Lock up your home, even if you go out only for a short time
  • Dogs and Geese are good deterrents to burglars and intruders
  • Don’t forget to shut the garage door whenever you don’t need access to it
  • Get to know all the neighbors, their eyes on your home is added security
  • Have a plan and always be prepared by discussing what to do if and when….

robberSometimes common sense just isn’t enough. Always remember that while you and I may put little thought or effort into thinking about ways to protect our homes and families, the unwelcome intruder spends every waking moment of everyday trying to find newer, better, and faster ways to take advantage of our passive and naive attempts at home protection and safety.

Don’t take this topic for granted and remember that “everyone” is vulnerable and a candidate for this type of unfortunate event. Better safe… than sorry.

Listing Strategies

Top 15 Listing Lead Strategies

There are two types of real estate markets. The buyers market and the seller’s market.  These two markets are totally unpredictable and can switch and swap at any given time for any unknown reason. We always discover why after the fact, but if we knew in advance, that would take all the fun out of being in the real estate industry for the real estate pros.

In today’s real estate market, there is a lack of real estate for sale in many markets across the Country.  Making this a seller’s market in the sense that many homes that are for sale drive more traffic at open houses, get more attention on the sites where listed, and ultimately get multiple offers where the accepted offer is way over the original asking price.

One buyer wins, all the others lose and will have top continue their search for the American dream.  How do we resolve this challenge of not enough homes for sale? The answer? A survival guide for agents wanting to increase their seller’s listings and build more inventory in their local real estate markets.

Here’s the Top 15 Listing lead strategies and lead generation ideas.

Defining your real estate market:

10 Body Language Tips for Presenters

If you ever have to speak to an audience, or present an idea or speech to a large crowd in public, here are some great body language tips that will help you. The most important part of any presentation and speech is that you feel relaxed, your audience feels comfortable, you establish trust, and you deliver compelling points and ideas that engage your audience and drive your message closer toward the end result and goal… whatever that may be.

10 Powerful Body Language Tips for Your Next Speech or Presentation

1. To boost your confidence during your presentation,  open your chest and arms, and keep your back straight.  This position will make you breathe better, and you’ll feel much more relaxed.

2. To make your audience more comfortable, simply smile at them.  Smiling is your most powerful weapon in any presentation.

3. To engage people, gesture with your arms and hands in a natural way, and look your audience in the eye. People tend naturally to pay attention and to like people who look them in the eye.

4. To demonstrate authority, keep calm and use small and stiff gestures.  This way people will trust you and view you as a confident person and presenter.

5. To bring movement and life to your speech, use the physical space you have available and walk it. For example, if you’re presenting 3 points, talk about point “A” when you’re at your first position; then move out or aside 2 or 3 steps, and talk about point “B” this way, movement that includes space will accompany your speech.

6. To keep the audience’s attention, vary your gestures through-out the presentation. Open gestures, small gestures, gestures that involve your head, arms, and hands, and use broad gestures to make an impact on your audience.

7. To draw attention to a certain element of your presentation, point directly at it and look at it on the screen at the same time.  The audience will follow your finger and your eyes.

8. To encourage audience participation, use open gestures and if possible walk around and towards people. We tend to want to participate more when we have proximity to a speaker.

9. To make a hard question from your audience seem easier, pause… breathe slowly (this will give you time to think) and then answer while looking the questioner directly in the eye.

10. To make the audience buy your story, use positive gestures during the entire presentation: nodding, smiling, open gestures, mirroring etc.

Body Language Speaking Tips

The best tips and suggestions I can make for any presentation: be honest, be truthful, be sincere, be transparent, be simple, be fun, be approachable, and most of all be humble!  Don’t be full of yourself, be yourself and full of your goal.

Google Analytics Visual.ly Reports

Google Analytics provides some great stats, graphs, reports, and traffic information etc. about your websites and blogs but only if you’ve properly added the Google Analytics code to your sites.  This information and visual data can be very useful in growing your sites’ traffic and building your online empire of quality content over time. It’s a no-brainer that knowing where you’ve been, and where you are currently, will help you get to where you’re going and want to be, right?

Google Analytics provides some very useful information, like the the dashboard….

Visual.ly has recently created a way for you to view and share some of that important information by providing a free, cool looking and well presented info-graphic. Get weekly insights and updates on all yours websites and blogs. Let me show you how it works.

The first step is to create your free account on Visual.ly.  The second step (if you haven’t already) is to install the Google Analytics codes on your websites and blogs where applicable. Free and Safe Google Images

Using Free and Safe Google Images

Are you looking for images and pictures for your blog? The best bet is to always take and use your own. Just because you can “right-click” on an Internet image and save it to your computer for later use, doesn’t mean that you should, in fact,  I very strongly encourage against it.

95% of people search the Internet for images, pictures, and graphics and they start their search on Google, just like you and I do. The problem is that not all pictures and images are free to use, are available under a creative-commons law, and most are copyright protected.  So now what?

Here is my recommendation for those who want to use Google for images and pictures.

1. Do your Google search as you normally would:

Beautiful Houses

2. Now, use the “advanced” search tool that Google provides over on the right:

Advanced Search Tool

3.  Very Important:
Choose the usage rights that have “Free To Use Share or Modify” and click advanced search button

Google Free and Safe Images

4.  Viola! Free and safe images for you to use on your blogs and websites.

Google Free Images and Pics

If you must search the web to find and use that perfect image or picture for your blog, make sure it’s a free and safe image or picture, and that you are doing all you can to protect yourself and abide by all the copyright rules, laws, and regulations.

Even the steps above can’t, won’t, and don’t fully protect you from lawyers and the court of law, but it’s much better and safer than the way you’re currently doing it, wouldn’t you agree…or you wouldn’t be here now right? 🙂

How To Create A Free Mobile App

BradsDomainQRCodeDo you have a mobile app? How about for your business?  You know, one that your clients can download and use on their mobile devices?  If you’re considering an app for mobile, you’re in the right spot.

Let me show you how to create a mobile app that can be shared with anyone who has a mobile device and I’ll show you how to do it for absolutely free.  Best of all, you can do it all online by yourself and at your leisure without a programmer, no developer experience, and with no software.

This tutorial walks you through each step in creating and building your mobile app.

STEP ONE:

Go to Mobile By Conduit, click on “Create App” enter your web address URL, click “Create App

HGow To Create Free Mobile AppsSTEP TWO:

Wait just a moment for the Mobile Conduit generator to grab your information, then start building your mobile app with all the bells and whistles you’d like. You can completely customize your unique mobile app here.

Building Your Free Mobile App

NOTE: This is where you can add your Social Media pages, your Facebook Business and fan pages, RSS feeds from ANY site, video, pictures, contact forms, about you or your company pages,  additional websites and links, contact information, local area events, custom pages, and more.

Notice there are 3 tabs at the top of the build page.

The first tab is for your mobile app content, the second tab is for style and design, and the third tab is for information and app details.  Utilize each of these areas and features to help you build your new mobile app.

STEP THREE:

Once you have everything in place, your images and links all setup, your icons and buttons customized and selected, click on the “Save & Continue” button to complete your mobile app. You can also create a custom URL for the app where is will be housed and accessible. IE: http://DebraLeeDarling.ConduitApps.com

The Mobile App Landing Page

Your mobile app landing page is now ready to share.  It also has a custom and unique QR Code for users to scan and download your app along social media buttons so they can share with their friends and sphere of influence.

Mobile App Landing Page

The final step in this process is to market and promote your mobile app on your websites, your blogs, your online profiles, and out in the real world.  One suggestion is to create a custom graphic or icon that links directly to your hosted landing page as seen below.

If you want your app to have unlimited downloads, be available in the app stores, and have full analytics and reporting capabilities, there is a fee but well worth it just for those features alone. You can also allow advertising on your mobile app from Conduit should you want to off-set some of those fees.

Remember: We live in a mobile, social, and local world which is exactly why you’re here reading this and why you’ll want an app (your app) out there and available to clients and potential customers.   View the BradsDomain mobile app example in the gallery preview below, built in less than an hour.
