New WordPress Photo Gallery Plugin

Here’s one of the better photo gallery plugins I found for WordPress self-hosted Blogs. There are many samples of ways you can use this plugin Gallery on both blog posts and pages. It’s real easy to setup and some of the options will not only save valuable real estate in regards to your post or page, your viewers might like some of the features as well.

The plugin is called the “1 Flash Gallery” and can be searched in your WordPress plugins.

There are quite a few Photo Gallery options to select from, the one below allows you to advance the photos by simply clicking on them. There are others that are a bit more advanced and elaborate, but this will give you an idea of how the plugin looks and works. Using the plugin options will allow you to select from multiple playback and user interface settings.

“Yes, I have personally stood in each of these locations and taken each of these photos.” No editing, cropping, adjusting, or photo-shopping. These are some of my favorite travel photos from around the world. You can find my other favs HERE.

One of my personal favorite features about using this particular plugin is that no one can right click and save or plagiarize your photos, graphics, or images. I know what you’re thinking, and you wouldn’t be normal if you didn’t at least try right now so go ahead…. do the “right-click” thingy… 🙂

I’m laughing right now, are You?

Where To Begin Internet Marketing

Where is the best place to begin Internet Marketing and Advertising?

There are so many options, so many choices, so many social networks and wesites with FREE technology and tools.  So many paths to choose from yet so many ways to fail and consume my business, personal, and family time.  What direction and path should I take that will be best for me and my business?

Today I received the following email from one of my On-line Academy attendees asking me the following questions.  It dawned on me how many others out there may have the same questions and concerns?  We all started somewhere and from the exact same place with these very same questions.  This was my response to here and hopefully the response will be helpful to you if by chance you’ve discovered this posting.

Hi Brad,

“I only have my corporate website. Where is the best place to begin internet marketing? Would it be to create my personal blog? If so, do I need a domain name and website and then maybe start adding local content and some widgets from Zillow? I’ve taken some of the webinars you have hosted and know I can’t do everything at once. Just want to start making the proper steps.”

Hi Wanda – there are a few places you can begin, I’ll give you a few tips that might be helpfu;l:

1. Create and Build a WordPress self hosted Blog and start providing great content there:
You can add widgets, videos, audio files, anything you feel your target audience will find value in.

2. Participate on Facebook, Twitter, and Youtube for social media connections.
This is a great way to see what clients, targets, and prospects like and are doing in their lives.

3. Create some niche or custom Blogs for specific areas of your business.
This could be short-sales, foreclosures, golf course properties, gated communities, horse property etc.

4. Get out in the community and neighborhood and participate and contribute to as many local events possible.
What you do in the real world can be brought into the online world and shared with a wider variety of audience.

5. Get a trainer, coach, consultant that can do exactly what I’m doing here for you. Don’t try to do it all.
Don’t try to be on all sites and everything to everybody. Pick one or two things or sites, then master them
according to a unique or specific style that woks best for you.

Most important of all, have a plan, a strategy, and then a passion for success and it will come to fruition.

Thanks, and I hope you have a wonderful and productive day.

How To Backup and Export Your ActiveRain Blog Posts

How To Backup and Export Your Blog Posts – ActiveRain NEW Feature

On August 18 @ noon CST, we launched the ability for members to export all of their blog entries to a single, compressed XML file. Its open nature will allow for the development of third-party import tools.

Exporting your posts from ActiveRain has been a long awaited feature that is now available to all members.  The format is XML and can be manipulated in many different ways which I’ll demonstrate in future posts.  Special thanks to our tech team for making this possible.  This new feature will allow you to backup and export your Blog posts with a single click.

The first thing you are probably asking yourself is what the heck is XML?  Read more at XML.com

Here are the simple steps to download your ActiveRain Blog File

Step 1:
Log in to ActiveRain

Step 2:
Click on your “My Home” link in the upper right hand corner of your screen

Step 3:
Scroll to the bottom of the screen and click on the link “Export Blog Entries

Note: Depending on what computer you are running (IE: Mac, PC) and what operating system, the next window that pops up may appear slightly different, but it will be the same principle.  You are saving a file to a specified location on your computer.

Step 4:
The pop-up window below will appear.  Select “Save File” to your desktop, and click OK.

Step 5:
You will have a zipped or compressed file on your desktop containing the XML file with all your Blog entries.

(if file is not on desktop, check the location you saved it to, often times it will default to your “Downloads” folder located in your “My Computer” folder.)

Step 6:
When you “Double Click” on the zipped file, it will extract the .XML file to your desktop

Step 7:
To open and view this file, or to use with any XML compatible formats and programs, right click your mouse on it and select the program you wish to open it in.  For this example, I am going to use a simple text editor application on my computer called TEXT EDIT.

Step 8:
You can now see the XML format of your entire ActiveRain Blog.

Now don’t go passing out on me (LOL~) understand that XML formats are a complex and more complicated format than most of us are used to working with or seeing, however, there will be a multitude of ways that this data can be used by other programs and sources.  You cannot hurt your ActiveRain Blog by messing around and experimenting with this file.  It is already exported from AR to your computer and will not affect your AR blog in any way.  You have now successfully downloaded and backed up your entire ActiveRain Blog and every post in it.

I’ll try and post some more advanced information on ways this can be used in the near future, but for now, at least you know how to access and download it to your computer.  Baby steps, just baby steps before we show you how to run the 100 yard dash with it.  I’m sure there will be many questions, and ideas generated by this post, so please feel free to leave your comments and thoughts.  I’ll do my best to get your questions answered in an accurate and timely manner.
