Before you spend a fortune creating a Real Estate related website, take a moment to review this article.  You can spend a ton of time and money on developing a really cool webpage with java, multimedia, sound files, images, video, and great content that is SEO optimized.

But did you know that some of the same people you would pay to do this for you have also created some sites that allow you to do it yourself… and do it for FREE?  These are just a few of the sites I’d recommend reviewing before you start filling out that “Pay To The Order of” section in your checkbook.

  1. I have been wondering why agents buy websites and paying a $499 to $1500 set up fee followed by $29 – $99 per month before IDX fees. Sure, there are some really nice agent websites out there, but really – a simple website using Weebly (my 9 year old launched one in an hour … see http://www.alexandralund.com) should be just fine for most agents.

While I am on a rant, I guess that I should add that all of these sites are just fine for SEO, but not UBER fantastic at it. And it DOES NOT MATTER. I rarely see an agent website rank high in search, and even when I do, their bounce rates are in the 70s or 80s – so who cares.

Save the money – build a free site, and focus on using it as a client servicing tool rather than a lead generation tool. Life will be good.
