Here’s a Secret Tip to Creating Links That Result in Full Screen Video Playback

Have you ever wanted to add a link to your blog or website that would result in the user ending up on a full screen video?  Normally when someone clicks on a link to see a video, they end up on a page that looks something like this:

Notice all the distractions, videos, ads, and links etc. that surround and compete with your video?  They may be relative videos but wouldn’t it be nice if you could have your links go directly to a full screen video with no distractions like this:

Now you can! Here’s a simple secret to make your links go to full screen videos.

Standard Youtube video links will look like this:

Clicking on a link containing the standard URL above will result in a quarter screen video that is distracting and takes away from the message and content that YOUR video is trying to deliver.  Go ahead, try this link here and see for yourself.

Now just add ( _ popup ) to the URL like this:

By adding the simple _ popup after the “watch” in the URL, and leaving everything else the same, your visitors will now land on the same video but filling up the entire web browser screen.  The result being no other distractions,  links,  or ads to  compete with your video and it’s content or message.  Here’s an example to see for yourself.

Here’s a few additional Youtube video tips:

Starting Video at Desired Location

Have you ever wanted your video to start midway into the video?  Just add ( #t=02m15s ) to the end of the URL using the minutes and seconds where you want the video to start.  (#t=XXmYYs for XX mins and YY seconds) In this case it would start at 2 minutes and 15 seconds into the video.  Try It Here, and be sure to notice the clock in the lower left corner to confirm it works.

How To Watch Videos Out of Your Region

Have you ever tried to watch a video out of your region and were unable?  Some videos are only available to watch in specific parts of the world.  Did you know that your IP Address is used by Youtube to determine your location and then allow or deny you access to some videos?  THE SECRET: Simply change the url from https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=<somecode> to https://www.youtube.com/v/<somecode>

Downloading Videos for Offline Viewing

Need to save a Youtube video to share with someone later offline?  Just enter the video URL into the box located at saveyoutube.com and the video will be downloaded to the desktop of your computer hard-drive.  DO NOT Re-post downloaded videos as this could result in video copyright infringement and plagiarism which we do not endorse and discourage against.
