The "NEW" Daylght Savings Time (DST) – Tech Tip!

Does anybody really know what time it is?

Here's a talking point for you with your customers and clients: Beginning in 2007, daylight saving time (DST) will be extended in the United States. DST will start on March 11, 2007, which is three weeks earlier than usual, and it will end on November 4, 2007, which is one week later than usual. This results in a new DST period that is four weeks longer than in previous years.

Unless certain updates are applied to your computer, the time zone settings for your computer's system clock may be incorrect during this four-week period. In particular, you must make sure that both your Windows operating system and your calendar programs are updated. That being said, there is a lot of opportunity to bring a solution to your clients and customers. Here's a link to the Microsoft solution. Here's a link to the Apple solution.

Since standard daylight saving time has changed to a new set of parameters regarding the dates it begins and ends, it will be necessary to update both Windows and Palm Treo software (if applicable) to handle this change. Be sure to run the Windows updates before you run your Treo updates. Just wanted to give you a heads up, you only have until Sunday.
